Student Visitor Eligibility

You are eligible to come to the United Kingdom (UK) as a student visitor if you are seeking entry to study at Calvary Chapel York Bible College for a single semester and come from a non-visa national country e.g. USA or Canada.

Chapel York Bible College has been accredited by ASIC and holds a sponsor licence for Tier 4 of the points- based system.

To enter the UK as a student visitor, you will need:

  • Your acceptance letter
  • A return ticket home (or a printout of the details of an e-ticket)

You must:

  • Be able to pay for your tuition and accommodation
  • Leave the UK at the end of the semester

You must not:

  • Take a job in the UK
  • Take part in any money-making venture within the UK, including selling goods or services direct to members of the public
  • Go on a work placement or internship (paid or unpaid) as part of the course

You will not be able to extend your stay in the UK; you will have to leave the UK within 6 months of arriving.

So long as you comply with the above conditions, the immigration officer should admit you as a student visitor. Note that immigration officers do have discretion about who they admit – if there is any problem ask the immigration officer to ring Calvary Chapel York on 01904 638777.

The above information came from www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/studyingintheuk/student-visitors/eligibility on 24th April 2009.

Please note: the Student Visitor stamp is single entry; if you leave the country to go on outreach or to do sightseeing, you will need to request a fresh visitor stamp in your passport when you return to the UK and there is the possibility this may be refused.

We understand from the UK Border Agency that visits to the UK by visitors who do not have full visas, including student visitors, may be limited to 6 months in a 12 month period.
